Taiwan and Indonesia have renewed their commitment to fostering agricultural talent through existing cooperation and to ensuring a sustainable food supply in the face of threats posed by climate change, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said today.
The Ministry of Agriculture and the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture held a consultation meeting on agricultural cooperation on Thursday last week, focusing on the challenges that climate change poses to food safety, the ministry said.

The two sides agreed to work together to strengthen agricultural resilience by continuing talent cultivation and technological cooperation, thereby ensuring a steady food supply, it added.
The meeting minutes were signed by Representative to Indonesia Bruce Hung (洪振榮) and Indonesian Representative to Taiwan Arif Sulistiyo.
On Friday and Saturday, an Indonesian delegation visited food plants in Yilan and Changhua counties and observed the work of young Indonesian farmers engaging in internships in the two regions.
The ministry conveyed the meeting's success and expressed hope that the two countries would continue to engage in substantive cooperation — including on food safety — to ensure a win-win situation for both sides.

The eastern extension of the Taipei MRT Red Line could begin operations as early as late June, the Taipei Department of Rapid Transit Systems said yesterday.
