The Shilin District Prosecutors’ Office today charged entertainer “Nono” with two counts of rape and forcible sexual assault against two separate women.
The women had appealed twice to the High Prosecutors’ Office before today’s charges.
Prosecutors ascertained that Nono, whose given name is Chen Hsuan-yu (陳宣裕), used his tall stature and large build at 181cm to overpower the two women into forced sexual contact.

Nono was among a number of public figures accused of sexual assault during Taiwan’s #MeToo movement that began in 2023.
Prosecutors are recommending a heavy sentence, considering his lack of remorse and maintaining denial of any wrongdoing following a string of allegations.
From 2011 to 2013, Nono visited an upscale hotel in Taipei, where he asked the first woman to give him a massage, prosecutors said.
During the massage, he suddenly stood up and pushed the woman down on the massage chair before sexually assaulting her, they said.
In the other case, prosecutors found that he had liked a video posted to Facebook by one of the victims and messaged her to arrange to meet up in 2011.
In December of that year, he drove to pick up the woman on Yanji Street in Taipei’s Daan District (大安), they said.
The woman sat in the front seat and Nono proceeded to kiss her, touch her body and grope her chest, despite her rejecting his advances, they said.
In a separate case in May, Nono was found guilty of attempted forcible intercourse and sentenced to two years and six months in prison by the Shilin District Court.
Nono has so far been tried on a total of seven complaints of sexual assault and indecent behavior against a total of six women, although he was found not guilty on the remaining six charges due to insufficient evidence.
The cases brought today were initially investigated by the Taipei District Prosecutors’ Office, which decided not to prosecute.
The two women appealed to the High Prosecutors’ Office for review.
The case was then transferred to the Shilin District Prosecutors’ Office, which decided once again not to indict Nono.
The victims then launched a second appeal to the High Prosecutors’ Office, which returned the case to Shilin prosecutors to continue investigating.

A Taiwanese academic yesterday said that Chinese Ambassador to Denmark Wang Xuefeng (王雪峰) disrespected Denmark and Japan when he earlier this year allegedly asked Japan’s embassy to make Taiwan’s representatives leave an event in Copenhagen. The Danish-language Berlingske on Sunday reported the incident in an article with the headline “The emperor’s birthday ended in drama in Copenhagen: More conflict may be on the way between Denmark and China.” It said that on Feb. 26, the Japanese embassy in Denmark held an event for Japanese Emperor Naruhito’s birthday, with about 200 guests in attendance, including representatives from Taiwan. After addressing the Japanese hosts, Wang
One of two tropical depressions that formed offshore this morning could turn into a moderate typhoon by the weekend, the Central Weather Administration (CWA) said today. Tropical Depression No. 21 formed at 8am about 1,850km off the southeast coast, CWA forecaster Lee Meng-hsuan (李孟軒) said. It is expected to move in a northwesterly direction as it continues building momentum, possibly intensifying into Typhoon Mitag this weekend, she added. The radius of the storm is expected to reach almost 200km, she said. It is expected to approach southeast of Taiwan on Monday and pass through the Bashi Channel between Tuesday and Wednesday,
About nine Taiwanese are “disappeared,” detained, or otherwise deprived of freedom of movement in China each month, the Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) said yesterday. Between Jan. 1 last year and Aug. 31 this year, 188 Taiwanese travelers went missing, were detained and interrogated, or had their personal freedom restricted, with some questioned in airports or hotel lobbies, the council said. In a statement ahead of the Mid-Autumn Festival, the council urged people visiting China for any reason to be highly vigilant and aware of the risks. Of the reported cases, 50 people were “disappeared” after entering China, 19 were detained and 119 had
