Warm and mostly dry weather is expected to prevail across Taiwan today, with daytime temperatures in the western half reaching 31 to 32°C, and those conditions are expected to last until next Tuesday, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA).
Under the influence of southeasterly winds, partly cloudy to sunny skies are to be seen across most of Taiwan today, although some scattered showers are likely in the eastern half and the Hengchun Peninsula in the south, the CWA said.
Daytime temperatures are set to rise today to over 32°C in mountainous areas in central, southern and western Taiwan, and to 27 to 28°C in the east, the weather agency said.

The mercury would drop overnight to lows of 18-21°C across Taiwan, according to the CWA.
Tomorrow, the weather is expected to turn cloudy, and the moisture in the air will increase on Saturday, the CWA noted.
A weather front is forecast to pass through Taiwan on Sunday, bringing sporadic showers and thunderstorms to northern Taiwan, while skies in other areas would remain cloudy.
Another weather front is expected to arrive next Tuesday, bringing similar conditions, the CWA said. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely in central, northern and northeastern Taiwan, with sporadic rain in the east.
From next Thursday to Saturday, abundant moisture in the air is likely to result in sporadic thundershowers, while the weather across Taiwan would turn cooler, according to the CWA forecast.
Meanwhile, tomorrow through next Tuesday, daytime highs of 31 to 32°C are expected in the western half of Taiwan, 28 to 30°C in the eastern half, and 26 to 30°C on outlying islands.
Next Wednesday, the mercury would fall to 24°C in northern Taiwan, while other areas can expect a drop of 2-4°C , the CWA predicted.
The Ministry of Education (MOE) is to launch a new program to encourage international students to stay in Taiwan and explore job opportunities here after graduation, Deputy Minister of Education Yeh Ping-cheng (葉丙成) said on Friday. The Taipei District Court sentenced babysitters Liu Tsai-hsuan (劉彩萱) and Liu Jou-lin (劉若琳) to life and 18 years in prison respectively today for causing the death of a one-year-old boy in December 2023. The Taipei District Prosecutors’ Office said that Liu Tsai-hsuan was entrusted with the care of a one-year-old boy, nicknamed Kai Kai (剴剴), in August 2023 by the Child Welfare League Foundation.
