Taiwan-Japan Travel Passes are available for use on public transit networks in the two countries, Taoyuan Metro Corp said yesterday, adding that discounts of up to 7 percent are available.
Taoyuan Metro, the Taipei MRT and Japan’s Keisei Electric Railway teamed up to develop the pass.
Taoyuan Metro operates the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport MRT Line, while Keisei Electric Railway offers express services between Tokyo’s Narita Airport, and the Keisei Ueno and Nippori stations in the Japanese capital, as well as between Narita and Haneda airports.

The basic package comprises one one-way ticket on the Taoyuan MRT Line and one Skyliner ticket on the Keisei Electric Railway, costing ￥2,780 (US$19.53), Taoyuan Metro said.
People traveling to Japan can purchase the basic package in Taiwan and add a one-day, two-day or three-day pass to access subways in Tokyo, the company said.
The total cost would range from ￥3,580 to ￥4,280, depending on the subway pass purchased, it said.
In addition to the basic package, people traveling to Taiwan from Japan can buy a package that includes a one-way Skyline ticket, a 72-hour pass to access the Taipei MRT system and round-trip tickets on the Taoyuan International Airport MRT Line, the company said.
That package costs ￥4,830, it said.
All of the packages are priced in yen and can be purchased on online travel platforms in Taiwan and Japan, Taoyuan Metro said.
Ticket buyers would receive a QR code upon completion of their order and can redeem physical tickets at designated counters at Keisei Electric Railway and Taoyuan MRT stations, it said.
All tickets must be redeemed before Aug. 31 next year and one-way tickets must be used within 90 days of the redemption date, it said.
