Former president Ma Ying-jeou (馬英九) met with Chinese President Xi Jinping (習近平) on Wednesday afternoon, the second time the two have met, China Central Television (CCTV) reported.
The two met at 4pm in Beijing’s Great Hall of the People, the state-run Chinese outlet said in a breaking news alert, without giving Ma a title.
Although China’s Taiwan Affairs Office refused to comment on the rumored meeting earlier on Wednesday, the day before, a notice was sent out to reporters to arrive at the Great Hall at 2:45pm.

They were informed that no live-streaming would be allowed, and their phones would be confiscated, sources said.
In November 2015 when he was still president, Ma became the first Taiwanese president to meet with the Chinese leader at a summit in Singapore.
Ma departed for China on Monday last week leading a delegation of students to visit technology firms, universities and historical sites.
