Kaohsiung led the nation in most drinks consumed last year, at a value of NT$8.26 billion (US$257.25 million), Ministry of Finance data showed.
As of the end of last year, there were 15,837 hand-shaken drink shops in Taiwan, ministry data showed.
Kaohsiung had the most of any single municipality at 3,077, followed by Tainan with 2,647 and Taichung with 2,020.

Trailing after were New Taipei City (1,199), Taoyuan (1,135) and Taipei (1,050), showing a general trend of greater drink shop density when traveling from north to south.
By sales volume, the whole of Taiwan spent NT$53.75 billion on hand-shaken beverages last year.
Kaohsiung again led this metric with NT$8.26 billion worth of drinks sold, followed by Tainan with NT$7.81 billion.
However, if calculated per capita, Tainan was the leader with each resident spending an average of NT$4,199 on drinks last year to NT$3,015 per person in Kaohsiung.

Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai (陳其邁) on Monday announced light shows and themed traffic lights to welcome fans of South Korean pop group Twice to the port city.
