US Representative Mike Gallagher is to lead a delegation to Taiwan next week in a show of support for president-elect William Lai (賴清德), the Financial Times reported on Wednesday.
Gallagher, who chairs the US House committee on China, is to arrive on Wednesday next week, the paper said, citing three people familiar with the plan.
It also cited two Taiwanese officials as saying he would lead a delegation of seven US lawmakers.

The group is to meet with Lai, as well as newly elected Legislative Speaker Han Kuo-yu (韓國瑜) of the opposition Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT), it said.
Gallagher’s office did not respond to the Financial Times’ request for comment, but he had earlier confirmed a plan to visit in the spring during a podcast.
Gallagher leads the House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party, which was formed in January last year.
Last week, the Wisconsin Republican announced he would not be seeking re-election.
