A 26-year-old man surnamed Lin (林) died after crashing his car into a traffic divider while driving drunk in Taichung on Friday morning.
Police said Lin crashed into a concrete divider along Songjhu Road Section 2 in the city’s Beitun District (北屯) at 6:54am. The accident occurred in front of a police station, and police officers called emergency personnel after checking on the driver.

The front of Lin’s car was crushed in the accident, and Lin sustained heavy injuries, police said, adding that he was rushed to hospital, but doctors were unable to resuscitate him. A blood test done at the hospital found that Lin’s blood-alcohol concentration exceeded the legal limit.
Police said the exact cause of the accident would be determined following an investigation.
