Ferry services for Siaoliouciou Island (小琉球) will resume on Friday, as high waves up to 2m continue to affect travel to and from the island, the Pingtung County government said Thursday.
Waves were roughly 1.4m in height on Thursday morning, and reached 2m by the afternoon, the county said, adding that there were level-7 winds, which are near-gale force winds that affect smaller vessels. Waves are expected to lower to 0.9m and winds to reduce to level 5 by 9:00am Friday, when ferry services will resume, it said.

Companies that operate services to the island including Taifu (泰富), Leuco Sapphire Shipping (藍白航運), Tungliu Line (東琉線聯營處), Dafu Liuqiu (大福航運) and Liuxing Co (琉興公司) have all announced on Facebook that they planned to resume services on Friday, it said.
“Passengers should still avoid moving around too much while the vessel is in motion, as waves will remain somewhat high,” Dafu Liuqiu manager Chi Ching-sheng (冀慶生) said.
