Reservoirs in Hsinchu and Keelung are now at roughly 90 percent capacity following heavy rainfall from Typhoon Mawar, the Northern Region Water Resources Office said Thursday.
Taoyuan’s Shihmen Reservoir has also received 18.4 million tons of rainfall, which is equivalent to 16 days of residential and commercial water usage since Tuesday, the office said, adding that the water-storage rate at the reservoir has reached 43.6 percent.

The reservoir is required to supply 1.11 million tons of water daily to meet local residential and industrial needs, but water usage for phase-one irrigation will last only until the end of June, and the reservoir is expected to receive more rainfall over the course of the month, it said.
Meanwhile, Feitsui Reservoir in New Taipei City has gained an estimated 7 million tons of water from rainfall this week, bringing it to a water-storage rate of 52.4 percent, it said, adding that water supply from the reservoir is now normal.
