High-speed rail (HSR) tickets for trains during next month’s Dragon Boat Festival are to go on sale at midnight on Wednesday, Taiwan High Speed Rail Corp said.
In preparation for the holiday from June 22 to 25, an additional 164 HSR trains are to run between June 21 and 26, the rail operator said on Monday.
With the additional 81 southbound and 83 northbound trains, 1,031 total trains are to run over the six-day period, it said.

Another three northbound trains are also to be added on the makeup day on June 17, it added.
All tickets for the period are to go on sale at 12am on Wednesday, the HSR Corp said.
The operator also reminded customers to arrange transportation at their destinations accordingly, as some late trains are to arrive after 12:30am.

A 79-year-old woman died today after being struck by a train at a level crossing in Taoyuan, police said. The woman, identified by her surname Wang (王), crossed the tracks even though the barriers were down in Jhongli District’s (中壢) Neili (內壢) area, the Taoyuan Branch of the Railway Police Bureau said.
