Warm weather with mostly sunny skies are expected across Taiwan until Saturday before cold air moves in on Sunday, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said yesterday.
Temperatures across Taiwan should rise each day until Sunday, when a cold air front is expected to arrive from the north and send the mercury falling, most noticeably from Monday night into early Tuesday, the CWB said.
A preliminary forecast predicted lows of 12°C to 14°C in northern Taiwan and 15°C to 16°C elsewhere on Monday and Tuesday next week.

Rain is possible on those two days, the CWB added.
Wu Der-rong (吳德榮), an adjunct associate professor of atmospheric sciences at National Central University, said that a front would affect Taiwan from Sunday night, with temperatures falling to as low as 6°C in low-lying areas on Tuesday next week.
Temperatures would gradually rise in the next few days before the front arrives, but there would be wide differences between day and night temperatures, Wu said.
A monitoring station in Hsinchu yesterday recorded a low of 8.6°C due to radiation cooling overnight under clear skies, the CWB said.

The Central Weather Administration has issued a heat alert for southeastern Taiwan, warning of temperatures as high as 36°C today, while alerting some coastal areas of strong winds later in the day.
