China Airlines, Yangming Marine Transport Corp and Chunghwa Post recently formed a strategic alliance to tap into the global e-commerce market — all three are state-run companies under the remit of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications.
Deputy Minister of Transportation and Communications Wu Men-feng (吳盟分) said that China Airlines is the world’s sixth-largest air cargo carrier, providing cargo flights to 35 cities in China, and Yangming is the world’s 13th-largest shipping firm, with service locations in more than 200 cities worldwide, while Chunghwa Post has 1,362 branches in Taiwan.
The ministry said that all three companies have branched out into the e-commerce market. The airline has created online shopping portal E-Mall and Yangming has established online shopping site My Captain, while Chunghwa Post has Postmall.
The three have formed a comprehensive logistics network, Wu said.
China Airlines also offers flights to 29 nations and 118 airports worldwide. It has air cargo terminals at both Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport and Kaohsiung International Airport.
Yangming has warehouses in Europe and Taiwan, as well as docks in Europe, North America and Taiwan reserved for its use. Chunghwa Post has 2,690 cargo trucks and more than 9,000 motorcycles for deliveries. Its Postmall has 300,000 members, with annual revenue of NT$300 million (US$9.02 million).

Yangmingshan National Park authorities yesterday urged visitors to respect public spaces and obey the law after a couple was caught on a camera livestream having sex at the park’s Qingtiangang (擎天崗) earlier in the day. A former soldier and an active-duty army officer were yesterday indicted for allegedly selling classified military training materials to a Chinese intelligence operative for a total of NT$79,440. The Taipei District Prosecutors’ Office indicted Chen Tai-yin (陳泰尹) and Lee Chun-ta (李俊達) for contravening the National Security Act (國家安全法) and the Anti-Corruption Act (貪污治罪條例).
