Taiwanese sharpshooter Liu Wan-yu on Tuesday won gold in the women’s trap event at the Asian Shotgun Championship in Qatar.
She later claimed the silver medal with Olympian Lin I-chun and 22-year-old Yeh Mei-hsuan in the women’s team trap event.

In the team event, Liu, Lin and Yeh scored 316 points to earn the silver medal behind Kazakhstan, who scored 325 points.
Later in the individual trap competition, Liu, who ranked seventh in the preliminary round, advanced to the final and won gold after edging Kazakhstan’s Eleonora Ibragimova.
Liu said her preliminary-round performance was inconsistent, but she adjusted her stance during the competition and regained her rhythm to reach the final.

While the competitors at this year’s championship were still adapting to the new final-round format, Liu was able to calm her nerves after talking with her coach, she said.
She joked that her victory was just keeping alive a streak of Taiwanese athletes winning events early in the year.
“At the beginning of this year, Lin Yun-ju in table tennis and Lin Chun-yi in badminton won titles, so I felt us shooters could not lose and break the streak,” she said.
Liu is hoping to maintain her form throughout the rest of the year and peak at this year’s Asian Games in Japan, which is to run from Sept. 19 to Oct. 4.
Veteran shooter Lin I-chun praised her teammates’ performance in the team competition, while noting that she was still recovering from a leg injury and vowed to perform better in upcoming tournaments.
In the men’s skeet event, Taiwan’s Yang Kun-pi advanced to the final ranked third, but ultimately finished fourth, narrowly missing out on a medal.

Brahim Diaz could have won the trophy for Morocco with a controversial spot-kick in the 24th minute of added time at the end of normal time as ugly scenes broke out in the stands. However, Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy easily saved the weak attempted “Panenka” chip by the Real Madrid winger, who was clearly distracted by the long delay that followed the penalty award.
James Harden on Friday scored 31 points and came up big in overtime to help the Los Angeles Clippers erase a double-digit deficit on the way to a 121-117 NBA victory over the Toronto Raptors. Harden scored 16 points in the fourth quarter and overtime as the Clippers pushed their wining steak to five games despite the absence of star Kawhi Leonard with a sprained right ankle. The Clippers trailed by 11 entering the fourth quarter, but Harden drilled a pair of free-throws with 1:24 left in regulation to tie it and after misses from both teams, they went to

Yassine Bounou on Wednesday saved two penalties, while Youssef en-Nesyri netted the decisive spot-kick as hosts Morocco secured a 4-2 shoot-out victory over Nigeria following a 0-0 draw in a tense Africa Cup of Nations semi-final in Rabat. Morocco, seeking their first continental title in 50 years, are to face 2021 winners Senegal in Sunday’s decider in Rabat, while Nigeria take on Egypt in the third-place playoff tomorrow. The 120 minutes before the shoot-out had few clear-cut chances for either side, but it was Morocco who created more opportunities, although they were denied by some fine saves from Nigeria goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali.
