Taiwan on Friday won a gold medal in the women’s 500kg class at the World Indoor Tug-of-War Championships in Northern Ireland.
The event consists of two tournaments, the indoor club competitions and the national team championships, both of which were held at the Jim Baker Stadium in County Antrim from Wednesday to yesterday.
Competing in the national team event, Taiwan’s representatives won all three matches against teams from Ireland, the Basque Country and China to defend their title after they won gold in 2020.

The latest edition of the World Indoor Tug-of-War Championships was supposed to be held last year, but was canceled due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Half of the competitors on the women’s 500kg team this year were new to the roster, Taiwan head coach Kuo Sheng said.
Also on Friday, Taiwan’s men’s 600kg team grabbed a bronze medal.
The men’s 560kg and mixed 580kg teams were to compete yesterday.
