Basketball Hall of Famer Allen Iverson plans to visit Taiwan during the summer, the 2001 NBA MVP said in a video on Evolution Sports’ Facebook page on Monday.
“Wanted to let you guys be the first to know that I’ll be visiting Taiwan this summer. Can’t wait to see my many fans in person,” said Iverson, an 11-time NBA All-Star, and four-time NBA scoring champ.
Evolution Sports said it had invited Iverson to meet Taiwanese fans, and it hoped Iverson would inspire basketball-loving children in disadvantaged rural areas.

Iverson, 47, was picked first in the 1996 NBA draft and spent 14 seasons in the league before ending his career with a short stint at Turkey’s Besiktas J.K. in 2011.
At 1.83m, Iverson averaged 26.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game as a point guard and shooting guard in the NBA.
Recognized for his speed, strength and handling, Iverson won the NBA regular-season scoring title in 1999, 2001, 2002 and 2005.
During his NBA career, Iverson scored more than 24,300 points and dished more than 5,600 dimes.
He left an indelible mark on the Philadelphia 76ers in 2001 when he was named regular-season MVP.

Teng Kai-wei, the only Taiwanese player on an opening-day roster in this year’s Major League Baseball (MLB) season, took his first win of the year with the Houston Astros in his season debut.
