Taiwan on Sunday beat the Czech Republic 7-2 to remain undefeated and secure a slot in the super round of the WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup in Hermosillo, Mexico.
Taiwan took control early, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning, while the Czech Republic responded with one in the bottom and another in the second.
The teams were scoreless until the seventh, when Taiwan shot ahead with four more runs, including three that followed a costly defensive error.

Unable to catch up in the bottom of the seventh, the Czech Republic lost to Taiwan, who are now 2-0, after beating hosts Mexico 2-1 on Saturday.
Taiwan are tied for first place with Cuba in their four-team Group A, qualifying them for the super round of the tournament, as they are guaranteed to finish in the top two of the group.
Taiwan relief pitcher Huang Tien-szu threw 5.1 innings, giving up just three hits, one run and two walks. Filip Nemec of the Czech Republic allowed three hits, three runs and four walks in two innings.
Taiwan next faces Cuba tomorrow.
Thirteen teams in three groups are competing in the tournament, with the top two teams of each group, after a round-robin series, advancing to the super round, while the other seven teams would compete for placement.
The WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup, held once every two years, was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2018, Taiwan finished third, behind the US and Panama.
