Lin Hung-yu’s clutch double with a man on first scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the seventh as the Lamigo Monkeys topped the Uni-President Lions 4-3 in Taoyuan last night to win their lone game of the weekend series.
The star catcher ended up with two-for-four hitting on the night to earn the MVP honor.
Uni-President Lions took an early lead in the top of the third with a run off Monkeys starter Brian Burres when Kao Chih-kang led off the inning with a double and scored two batters later on a groundout by Chen Yung-chi.

The Lions struck again in the fifth, taking advantage of two errors by the Lamigo defense to make it 2-0.
The lead lasted less than an inning as the Primates came through against Lions starter Chiang Cheng-fong by ringing up a pair of runs on two doubles and a single to tie the game at 2-2, a score that remained into the seventh, before Lin’s clutch swing untied it for good.
Trailing by two, the Cats got one of the two runs back in the ninth with two hits off Monkeys closer Ben Snyder. Tseng Jau-hao then entered to relieve Snyder and retired three of the four hitters he faced to preserve the first win of the season for reliever Huang Chin-chih.

The EDA Rhinos scored in four of the first six innings to take a commanding 7-0 lead and held off a late-game rally by the Brother Elephants to win in Greater Taichung last night to sweep the series.
