Four first-inning runs by the Sinon Bulls set the tone early in the game as they went on to defeat the La New Bears 8-2 on the road at Chengcing Lake Baseball Field in Kaohsiung County last night to even the series play at one game apiece.
Wang Hsin-min’s bases-loaded single off Bears starter Zachary Parker gave the visiting Bulls a quick 2-0 advantage before Hsu Guo-long followed with another two-run single that made it 4-0 in favor of the Bulls in the opening frame.
STRONG OUTING
That was more than enough for Sinon Bulls starter Lin Chi-wei, who retired the first dozen hitters he faced in order and took a two-hit shutout into the sixth inning before surrendering a pair of runs in a strong outing for his second win of the year.
Offensively for the victorious Sinon Bulls, the bottom of the order led by Wang’s 2-for-5 hitting with three RBIs accounted for six of the eight runs they plated off four different La New Bears hurlers.
As for the home team La New Bears, slugger Chen Chin-feng’s 2-for-3 hitting with an RBI represented the lone multi-hit effort by a lineup consisting of big names such as Lin Chih-sheng and Huang Long-yi, which was silenced by Lin and the Sinon bullpen.
Taking his second loss of the season was a wild Parker, who lasted only one inning with four allowed runs on a pair of hits and four costly walks.
