Officials from the Department of Health said they had found large numbers of dead rats around the Wu family's house and were investigating into the possibility of a disease brought by rats.
But because the Wu family's neighbors apparently have not been affected, the officials said they would not rule out other possibilities.

The National Development Council (NDC) yesterday unveiled details of new regulations that ease restrictions on foreigners working or living in Taiwan, as part of a bid to attract skilled workers from abroad.
