In a survey by online job bank yes123, 85 percent of respondents said they wanted to change jobs, with 46 percent saying they have already started looking for a new position.
The results suggest that the economy has recovered, so ambitious workers don’t feel it’s necessary to wait until after the Lunar New Year to switch jobs and are instead taking action already. According to yes123, it’s a case of “first come first served.” After the Lunar New Year there’ll be more jobs, but competition will also be more intense.
Yes123 carried out its online survey “Are people ready to start job hunting?” between Oct. 28 and Nov. 1 and collected 1,605 valid responses.

The survey found that 91 percent of respondents have considered changing jobs this year, of which 42.4 percent think about it every month and almost 20 percent think about it every day. It was found that 45.7 percent of workers had already started looking for a new job, with 13 percent saying they will start job hunting before the Lunar New Year and 26 percent saying they’ll wait until after.
When asked why they wanted to change jobs, 80 percent said they wanted a better salary, 50 percent hoped to find a job where they could better develop their talents and almost 40 percent wanted a better position. According to yes123, a new job doesn’t necessarily equate to a better salary. To improve their salary, job seekers must find out when a company lacks staff and make sure their resume clearly shows what value they can bring to the organization. Only by following these steps may the job seeker have a useful bargaining chip when it comes to the salary negotiations.
Additionally, over 50 percent of respondents said they thought it was easier to find a job this year compared to last year. Almost 60 percent said the best time to job hunt was after the Lunar New Year, but 34 percent worried that there’d be too may other job hunters, making finding a job even more difficult. Fifty-six percent of respondents said they would look for a new job before quitting their current one, and 82 percent would prepare to change jobs one month in advance, while 16 percent would prepare three months ahead. Because of this, yes123 expects the period from now to the Lunar New Year to be the peak season for job hunters.
Yes123 points out that although the economy has recovered and there are more work opportunities, job seekers often want to get their year-end bonuses before switching jobs. But when companies need to recruit they don’t wait around, so while there’ll be more jobs after the Lunar New Year, there’ll also be more competitors so the best advice for job seekers is to start their job hunt immediately.

As the priest Antonius Hambroek stood in the dim chamber of Fort Zeelandia, his eldest daughter clung to him, her voice trembling. “Father, don’t go. They’ll kill you, and what will become of Mother and my sisters?” Outside, the sounds of Koxinga’s relentless canon siege boomed through the fortress. The defenders were on the brink of collapse. Starvation gnawed at their resolve, and the air carried the acrid stench of spent gunpowder and rotting flesh. Dutch reinforcements from Batavia had failed to arrive, leaving the garrison isolated and hopeless. Hambroek’s face was calm, though sorrow weighed heavily on his
As we bundle up in thick coats to stay warm during the winter, there is a population that has already adapted to extremely low temperatures. These people live in the remote city of Yakutsk, the coldest city on Earth. Yakutsk is situated in the heart of Siberia, which is the capital of the Sakha Republic in Russia. This historic mining city began to flourish in the 19th century following the discovery of gold deposits. Given its construction on permafrost, the average temperature in the city remains below 0°C for over half the year, with winter temperatures dropping to an astonishing -50°C.
The Dutch introduced the Indian mango (Mangifera indica) to Taiwan in the 17th century. It is a green-skinned mango with thick fibers that get stuck in the teeth, but it boasts a rich aroma and a unique taste. In 1954, Taiwan’s Council of Agriculture introduced several mango cultivars from Florida, USA, including the Irwin, Haden, and Keitt varieties. After seven years of testing and domestication, the Irwin variety was chosen for promotion. Years later, the sample saplings started to bear fruit. These mangoes were large, with thin, vibrant red peels and golden pulp. The Irwin mangoes were mouth-wateringly sweet and
