Taiwan’s Tokyo Olympic bronze medalist Huang Hsiao-wen (黃筱雯) won gold at the 2025 World Boxing Championships in the United Kingdom on Sunday, by defeating Yoseline Perez of the United States in the finals of the women’s 54-kilogram competition.
Huang defeated Perez 4-1 over three rounds, with just one out of five judges scoring in favor of her American opponent.
The 28-year-old secured the medal in Liverpool, with more than 540 athletes from 66 national federations competing.

World Boxing is a new international body for Olympic- style amateur boxing founded in 2023 that is provisionally recognized by the International Olympic Committee.
Huang’s Sunday victory was her third career gold at a major international amateur boxing event, with her first two golds earned in 2019 and 2023 under the International Boxing Association’s biennial AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships.
