The Lamigo Monkeys trounced the Brothers Baseball Club 9-2 last night in Taichung, mainly on account of an outstanding performance by lefty starter Wang Yi-cheng (王溢正) and powered by three home runs to extend the Taiwan Series to Game 6 in Taoyuan tomorrow.
Wang threw a complete-game victory, baffling the Brothers hitters to scatter seven hits for the win, while the Monkeys cranked out 16 hits in total, starting by pounding Brothers starter Mike McClendon to tag him with the loss on nine hits and six runs through six frames.
Lin Chih-sheng (林智勝) crushed a fastball from McClendon into the stands for a solo homer in the first inning as the Monkeys grabbed an early lead.

It was Lin’s 10th career homer in finals, breaking the previous high of nine by Uni-President Lions slugger Lo Min-ching (羅敏卿).
Third baseman Yu Te-lung (余德龍) slapped a grounder to drive in a run for a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning.
In the fifth, outfielder Yang Yao-hsun (陽耀勳) connected on a McClendon high pitch for a solo homer to pad the lead to three.

In the next inning, the Primates got four hits for three more runs, moving 6-0 ahead.
The Monkeys coasted rest of the way, with catcher Lin Hung-yu (林泓育) blasting a two-run homer in a three-run rally in the final frame to make the final score 9-2.
The highlight for Brothers fans was when clean-up man Peng Cheng-min (彭政閔) rounded the bases in the sixth, with the Monkeys’ outfielder unable to find the ball, the first inside-the-park home run in Taiwan Series history.
Game 6 is to be staged at the Monkeys’ home ballpark, the Taoyuan International Stadium, tomorrow.
