Micro-Star International Co (MSI, 微星科技) is expanding notebook computer production in India after partnering with Indian electronics maker Syrma SGS Technology Ltd late last year, as the Taiwanese company seeks to tap into the local market.
MSI also plans to manufacture some of its new gaming PCs powered by Nvidia Corp’s RTX 50 graphics cards in India, while adding more advanced and design-focused PCs and notebooks at Syrma’s plant in Chennai, a source told the Taipei Times yesterday on condition of anonymity.
MSI’s deployment in India is driven not only by cost advantages, but also by India’s rapidly expanding consumer market and government incentives under New Delhi’s “Make in India” policy, the source said.

The Indian government’s Production Linked Incentive program, launched in 2020, also influenced MSI’s decision, as it offers financial support to foreign original equipment manufacturers producing in India, through their own plants or local partnerships, the source said.
For now, MSI continues to import most components for products assembled in India, with further localization dependent on cost structures and policy incentives, they said.
The company operates about 50 brand stores in India and sells through major retailer Croma Electronics Pvt Ltd, but might expand distribution to Amazon.com Inc’s India platform and Flipkart Inc, the source said.
MSI is expected to see revenue contributions from new PCs and notebooks equipped with Nvidia’s RTX 50 graphics cards as early as next month, although most production of those products would still come from its sites in Taiwan and China, the source added.
With RTX 50-equipped devices and the arrival of the traditional peak season next quarter, MSI’s revenue is expected to strengthen compared with this quarter, the source said.
