E.SUN Bank donates to establish “E.SUN Sustainability Hall” at National Taipei University. The groundbreaking ceremony was held on Tuesday and the ceremony was graced by the presence of Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim (蕭美琴) and world-renowned architect Tadao Ando, who shared his design philosophy.
They were joined by E.SUN founder Huang Yung-jen (黃永仁), chairman Joseph Huang (黃男州), former National Taipei University president Lee Chien-chia (李承嘉), current president Lin Daw-tung (林道通), as well as E.SUN executives, employees, and student representatives from the university, who all witnessed and offered their blessings for this important milestone.
The E.SUN Sustainability Hall is designed by the globally acclaimed Japanese architect Tadao Ando. Using the simple, natural material of exposed concrete, his design employs minimalist lines and geometric shapes, integrating natural elements like sunlight, water, and the surrounding forest. This approach creates a unique interplay of light and shadow, fostering a serene atmosphere.

Ando shared that within this rare campus environment, surrounded by greenery and a lake, the lecture hall was designed with a core spirit of “revering nature and loving people for a sustainable future.”
It is a space where wisdom from around the world can converge and be exchanged, jointly addressing the future of humanity and the Earth.
Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim stated in her remarks: “Sustainable development requires not only technological innovation and policy support, but also relies heavily on the cultivation of talent and the passing down of knowledge. I hope the E.SUN Sustainability Hall will become a vital hub for nurturing future sustainable talents, ensuring this knowledge and responsibility transcend generations. The green building and smart campus initiatives promoted jointly by the private sector and the government are highly aligned, and the connection with the education sector is key to the continuous proliferation of sustainable power. Together, we will work to protect Taiwan’s sustainable future with knowledge and action.”
National Taipei University has a long-standing commitment to talent cultivation and sustainable development, nurturing professionals in law, business, and humanities, while also actively responding to international sustainability trends by assisting the government and industries in their sustainable transition.
It is also an important academic-industry partner for E.SUN. Over the past year, both teams have been exchanging ideas for the Sustainability Hall.
The former president, Lee Chien-chia, was highly supportive and eagerly anticipated future collaborations on environmental, social and governance (ESG), aiming to create a greater sustainable impact for Taiwan.
National Taipei University also expressed that the ESG topic has moved from advocacy to the stage of action and implementation.
The E.SUN Sustainability Hall, beyond deepening dialogue and advocacy, represents the joint determination and action of E.SUN and National Taipei University to promote and expand the sustainable transition.
E.SUN chairman Joseph Huang said: “In facing the challenge of the 2050 net zero transition, E.SUN’s original intention in partnering with National Taipei University to build the E.SUN Sustainability Hall is to cultivate more outstanding sustainable talents and strengthen our nation’s future competitiveness. This hall will become a crucial base for fostering sustainable and innovative talent, combining both parties’ shared values of humanistic care and professional expertise in finance, law, and business, to jointly fulfill this promise for a sustainable future.”
The “E.SUN Sustainability Hall” is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2028. It is planned to feature a 150-person international conference hall and multifunctional spaces for purposes such as sustainability lectures and international conferences.
In the future, it is expected to not only bring together innovative ideas and sustainable energy from across generations and nations, but also to become a crucial cradle for Taiwan to connect with the world and promote sustainable development.
This will make Taiwan better because of E.SUN and the world better because of Taiwan.

BREAKTHROUGH TECH: Powertech expects its fan-out PLP system to become mainstream, saying it can offer three-times greater production throughput Chip packaging service provider Powertech Technology Inc (力成科技) plans to more than double its capital expenditures next year to more than NT$40 billion (US$1.31 billion) as demand for its new panel-level packaging (PLP) technology, primarily used in chips for artificial intelligence (AI) applications, has greatly exceeded what it can supply. A significant portion of the budget, about US$1 billion, would be earmarked for fan-out PLP technology, Powertech told investors yesterday. Its heavy investment in fan-out PLP technology over the past 10 years is expected to bear fruit in 2027 after the technology enters volume production, it said, adding that the tech would
