CTBC Financial Holding Co (中信金控) ranked among Taiwan’s top 10 global brands for the ninth time this year with a brand value of US$595 million, an annual increase of 7 percent, the “Best Taiwan Global Brands” survey released on Tuesday by the Ministry of Economic Affairs’ Industrial Development Administration and global brand consultancy Interbrand found.
CTBC Financial said that the survey showed its brand value ranked the highest in Taiwan’s financial industry, which indicates that the company not only has outstanding business operations, but also wins over consumers with a socially responsible performance.
The “Best Taiwan Global Brands” survey adopts the same brand evaluation system used in Interbrand’s “100 Best Global Brands” survey. By taking into account quantitative financial analysis and qualitative brand management, the organizers first reviewed the financial performance indicators from more than 1.000 listed Taiwanese companies. The organizers calculated the companies’ brand value by comparing their capacity to meet market demand, intangible benefits, brand role, brand revenue and brand strength, with the results highly recognized by the public.

In recognition of CTBC Financial’s efforts to bolster its brand’s influence, the organizers said that the company is committed to creating a safe environment for transactions and applying artificial intelligence technology with anti-scam measures to combat fraud and protect customer assets.
In addition, the company has implemented its brand motto “We are family” in delivering financial services and participating in social philanthropy. It has also successfully resonated with the public through its five core missions of charity, anti-drugs campaigning, sports, education and the arts, as well as through videos, exhibitions and other means, the organizers added.
CTBC Financial vice president Wu Hsiu-chen (吳修辰) accepted the award a ceremony on Tuesday.
He said the company not only makes steady profits, but has also continued to support international sports events and charity events to increase people’s social awareness.
CTBC Financial is the first enterprise in Taiwan to sponsor and invest in all levels of baseball, from youth leagues to the senior and professional levels. It has sponsored important international baseball competitions, including the World Baseball Softball Confederation’s Premier12 tournament this year, which saw Taiwan beat Japan 4-0 to win its first championship.
CTBC Financial said it would continue moving toward the goal of becoming “Taiwan Champion, Asia Leader” through cross-border, cross-industry and cross-platform cooperation. The company would also spare no effort to connect industries, distribution channels and social platforms to maximize their synergy and expand the benefits of its brand value, it said.

RISING: Strong exports, and life insurance companies’ efforts to manage currency risks indicates the NT dollar would eventually pass the 29 level, an expert said The New Taiwan dollar yesterday rallied to its strongest in three years amid inflows to the nation’s stock market and broad-based weakness in the US dollar. Exporter sales of the US currency and a repatriation of funds from local asset managers also played a role, said two traders, who asked not to be identified as they were not authorized to speak publicly. State-owned banks were seen buying the greenback yesterday, but only at a moderate scale, the traders said. The local currency gained 0.77 percent, outperforming almost all of its Asian peers, to close at NT$29.165 per US dollar in Taipei trading yesterday. The
