BNP Paribas, Calyon lent money to Carlyle Capital

French banks BNP Paribas SA and Credit Agricole SA are among the financial institutions that lent money to Carlyle Capital Corp (CCC), which on Thursday said it defaulted on about US$16.6 billion in debt.
BNP, France's largest bank, had US$576 million of exposure on Dec. 31, while Calyon, the investment bank unit of Credit Agricole, had US$1.4 billion through repurchase agreements, the mortgage fund's annual report showed.
Other creditors listed in the annual report include Citigroup Inc and Deutsche Bank AG.
