While the violence has subsided, tensions remain. The country's largest farmers' organization has vowed to form "self-defense" groups to prevent seizures of their land.
Meanwhile, INRA director Fernando Salazar this week announced that his agency's phones had been tapped.
All of the land given out by Morales this year has belonged to the state.
