The DPP is scheduled to hold a national congress in Taipei July 20 and July 21 to elect 30 members for the party's Central Executive Committee, a spokesman said Sunday. Cheng Yun-peng (鄭運鵬), director of the DPP's information department, said the meeting is likely to be held at the Taipei International Convention Center. "Several venues are being considered, but the Taipei International Convention Center is the most possible site. A final decision will be made later," he said. The election of the party's Central Executive Committee is part of the DPP's restructuring plan which will be finalized Aug. 1 when President Chen Shui-bian (陳水扁) will double as the party's chairman in accordance with amendments to the party's charter.
