Telecoms show to open tomorrow, 3G products on display

By Annabel Lue  /  STAFF REPORTER

The 2001 Taipei International Telecommunications and Networking show begins tomorrow at the Taipei International Trade Center.

According to the China External Trade Development Council (CETRA, 外貿協會), the show's organizer, the exhibition is estimated to attract more than 100,000 visitors. "Summer is a good time to hold consumer-oriented shows rather than buyer-oriented shows, because most buyers take trips with their children during summer vacation," said Chao Yuen-chuan (趙永全), vice president of CETRA. "That's why the Shanghi Cebit show held earlier this month was not as successful as expected," Chao said.

He added that mobile Internet, general pocket radio system (GPRS), third generation (3G) networks and advanced handset models would be spotlighted.
