Former president Lee Teng-hui (李登輝) was discharged from Taipei Veterans General Hospital yesterday afternoon after a dizzy spell the previous night, Lee’s office director Wang Yan-chun (王燕軍) said.

Chan Wan-leong (陳雲亮), chief of the hospital’s Division of Healthcare Management, confirmed that Lee was discharged at about 3pm after the hospital concluded that he was in a stable condition following a series of examinations.

Lee, 93, was hospitalized on Saturday night after experiencing low blood sugar, a fast heartbeat, chest tightness and dizziness after attending a fundraising dinner.

According to Wang, Lee first felt uncomfortable on Saturday afternoon and barely ate anything at the dinner.

This might have caused his blood sugar to fall too low, leaving him dizzy, the physician said.
