Exhibition on Israel opens

A photo exhibition featuring the natural scenery and birds of Israel opened yesterday in Taipei and is set to run until April 30, Israel’s representative office in Taiwan said. “This is a way of introducing a beautiful and amazing part of Israel to the Taiwanese audience,” Israeli Representative to Taiwan Simona Halperin said at the opening of the exhibition. A total of 33 photos, featuring a variety of birds and the natural scenery of Hula Valley in northern Israel, are on display at the gallery of Taipei Medical University Hospital, said the Israel Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei, which is organizing the event. The photo exhibition is being held in tandem with the office’s efforts to promote birdwatching tours to Israel during the migration period for birds, Halperin said, adding that the office is planning to take the photo exhibition to other parts of Taiwan.

Airport wins award

Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport has won a 2012 Airport Service Quality Award from the Airports Council International (ACI) in the 15 million to 25 million passenger size category, Taoyuan International Airport Corp said yesterday. The award ceremony will be held on June 11 at the ACI World Annual Congress and Exhibition. The company said previously the council only recognized the top three airports overall in its global ranking. This year, the council decided to divide airports around the world into groups based on passenger volumes, three being chosen and ranked in each group. Taiwan was ranked third in the 15 million to 25 million passengers category. Seoul Gimpo Airport was ranked first in the category, followed by China’s Chongqing Airport.
