Food enthusiasts as well as those looking for discounts on meals or accommodation from restaurants or hotels may want to check out the 23rd annual Taiwan Culinary Exhibition, which is scheduled to be launched at the Taipei World Trade Center on Aug.17.
The exhibition provides an important venue for hotels and restaurants to showcase their finest gourmet offerings.
Tsai Chin-chuan (蔡金川), chief executive of the Taipei Chinese Culinary Exhibition Organizing Committee, said this year the exhibition will feature signature snack foods, banquet dishes and delicacies of Greater Tainan, Lugang (鹿港) of Changhua County and Wanhua District (萬華) of Taipei City, which are Taiwan’s three oldest administrative towns. The exhibition will present the history and development of these three towns and how they have consequently shaped the nation’s politics, commerce and cuisine for more than 300 years, he added.
Visitors to the four-day exhibition can make reservations for set meals or a Taiwanese-style banquet serving only vegetarian food, said Tsai, adding that the organizing committee would host seminars introducing information on healthy vegetarian diets.
