The Control Yuan yesterday published details of the asset declarations of several government officials.
Academia Sinica President Wong Chi-huey (翁啟惠) and his wife’s bank deposits increased to NT$15.484 million (US$476,051) from NT$12.714 million two years ago.
Data released by the Control Yuan showed that the couple own shares valued at NT$19.62 million, two pieces of land and a building in California.
The data also showed that bank deposits belonging to Minister of Economic Affairs Yiin Chii-ming (尹啟銘) and his wife decreased to NT$7.36 million from NT$8.88 million in the last six months.
National Youth Commission Minister Wang Yu-ting (王昱婷) declared that she possessed bank deposits of NT$75.233 million and NT$57.55 million in securities, which had increased from NT$17.79 million and decreased from NT$116.07 million respectively.
Former minister without portfolio Chu Yun-peng (朱雲鵬), who stepped down late last month for skipping work to go out on dates during office hours, saw his deposits decrease to NT$23.6 million from NT$65 million last November before he was divorced.
The data showed that Liu Chao-han (劉兆漢), vice president of Academia Sinica and the elder brother of Premier Liu Chao-shiuan (劉兆玄), and his wife had deposits of NT$26.35 million, up from NT$19.71 million two years ago.
Lin Tze-yi (林子儀), a grand justice, declared that he and his wife had deposits of NT$22.97 million, down from NT$30.62 million a year ago, while their securities remained about the same, at about NT$35 million, during the same period.

Heat advisories were in effect for nine administrative regions yesterday afternoon as warm southwesterly winds pushed temperatures above 38°C in parts of southern Taiwan, the Central Weather Administration (CWA) said.
