The Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) said yesterday that it would try to get a refugee law passed so that Chinese dissidents will be able to lead more normal lives in Taiwan.
MAC asked the Council for Labor Affairs earlier this year about the possibility of allowing dissidents to work but did not get a clear response, MAC spokesman Liu Teh-hsun¡¦s (¼B¼w¾±) said.
His comments came in the wake of a hunger strike by three dissidents upset by their lack of residency and working rights.
