Academia Sinica awards prizes to 16 young scientists

Academia Sinica presented the Young Scientist Prize to 16 winners on Monday in recognition of their outstanding contributions, institute officials said.
The prize was awarded to eight winners in the math and science division, four winners in the life sciences division and four in the humanities division.
Chen Yu-ju (³¯¥É¦p), an associate researcher at Academia Sinica, clinched the prize for her use of proteomics to analyze protein profiling of clinical samples that could enhance understanding of how diseases work, they said.
Cheng Wen-fang (¾G¤åªÚ), an associate professor at National Taiwan University, won for developing a cervical cancer vaccine.
Huang Hui-chuan (¶À¼z®S), an associate professor at National Tsing Hua University, was honored for her research on the Aboriginal Bunun language.
