A woman died yesterday after falling 40m into the sea off Penghu County while parasailing.
Lin Pei-chi (林佩錡), 49, was quickly recovered from the sea, but she died before she could be rushed to a hospital in Penghu.
Police said Lin and her husband joined a travel group from Taichung on Saturday to take part in the activity in Chipei islet (吉貝嶼), Penghu County yesterday morning.
It was the first fatal parasailing accident in the country.

After an initial investigation, police believe the body harness worn by the parasailors had three buckles, and Lin's buckles were all unfastened, which they believe caused the accident.
Cheng was driving the speedboat pulling Lin in the canopy.
He told police Lin's canopy went into the air, but a few minutes later he saw that Lin was not attached to the canopy when he looked back.
Cheng soon found Lin floating in the water.
Police said Cheng told them that when he found Lin, she was without a life jacket. Her life jacket was floating close by, police quoted Cheng as saying.
Cheng told police that he was sure that Lin's buckles were fastened tight before beginning.
Police said Lin suffered from a serious lack of blood flow.
She was also found to have suffered pulmonary edema.

A 79-year-old woman died today after being struck by a train at a level crossing in Taoyuan, police said. The woman, identified by her surname Wang (王), crossed the tracks even though the barriers were down in Jhongli District’s (中壢) Neili (內壢) area, the Taoyuan Branch of the Railway Police Bureau said.
