Police yesterday morning arrested Lin Shih-huang (ªL¥@·×), one of the two suspects involved in the rape of a medical school student last Sunday after abducting her near the Jiantan Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Station in Taipei.
The other suspect, Huang Chieh-hung (¬x³ÇÂE), 30, was arrested on Friday morning.
Police said that Lin, 38, was suspected of having raped a female taxi driver before his capture yesterday morning.
On Friday Lin allegedly asked the female driver to take him to Nantou County. During the course of the journey he allegedly pulled her out of the car and raped her on a farm, police said.
Meanwhile, Shilin police said Huang's girlfriend was shocked to learn of her boyfriend's arrest, saying that she could not believe he could commit such a crime.
At Shilin Police Station, she told officer's that Huang had proposed to her two days before his capture on Friday.
Police said Lin and Huang had both confessed to the crime, admitting they had raped the student because they wanted sex.
Police said the victim was walking from Shilin Night Market toward a motorbike parking lot opposite the No. 2 exit of the Chientan MRT Station shortly after midnight on Sunday when the suspects grabbed her and forced her into a car.
They drove to Tachia Riverside Park.
The men raped the student and left her naked in the park.
A couple driving through the park found the student and helped report the case to the police.
