In hopes of retrieving his bicycle, British bike traveler Toby Wilsdon called on the public for help after his bike was stolen in Taipei City two weeks ago.
Wilsdon's Giant Great Journey bike was stolen near the Breeze Center on the evening on Nov. 24. He immediately reported the case to the police but has not received any good news.
Wilsdon first launched his cross-continent journey on his bike in January 2001 in London. He traveled 28,000km across Europe and Asia in 10 months.
When he arrived in Taiwan four years ago, he felt a special affection for the place and decided to stay.
Last July he participated in the "Cycle with Your Heart" campaign and raised funds for the Red Heart Association by circumnavigating Taiwan in 10 days.
Wilsdon said that many Tai-wanese people had offered their help after his bike was stolen. One person offered to lend him a bicycle. Wilsdon said he was impressed by the people's friendliness.
Wilsdon added that his Giant was a precious gift from his father, and meant a lot to him after the cross-continent journey.
He hopes that whoever took his bike "by accident" can return it to him soon.
