The Taipei District Prosecutors' Office yesterday charged Chinese Unity Promotion Party Chairman Lin Cheng-chieh (林正杰) with causing bodily harm and threatening a political commentator during a live TV news talk show broadcast in August. Lin slapped and kicked Contemporary Monthly magazine editor Chin Heng-wei (金恆煒) during a TV debate on Aug. 24 on whether President Chen Shui-bian (陳水扁) should resign over corruption allegations. Lin not only physically attacked Chin, but threatened him by saying "if you do not change your attitude, I will beat you every time I see you."
