Former Democratic Progressive Party councilor Chen Chun-sheng (陳春生) has sued Kaohsiung Mayor Yeh Chu-lan (葉菊蘭) along with bureau chiefs Tsai Yi-ren (蔡以仁) and Chu Cheng-lyuen (朱正倫) for dereliction of duty. Chen is dissatisfied that three requests he made to the city government for permission to use public property to hold protests against the president have all been turned down. The former councilor pressed the bell at the Kaohsiung district prosecutor's office yesterday to formally lodge the charges. He was supported by a group of demonstrators wearing red. The Kaohsiung police bureau said it has been maintaining a neutral position.
