A doctor in Taichung County committed suicide after being involved in three car accidents in two days, police said yesterday. The doctor, surnamed Chang, jumped into a river on Saturday, police said. On Thursday evening, Chang's car was hit by another vehicle, causing only slight damage. On Friday morning, Chang was hit again, causing serious damage to his car. Chang sent the car to a repair shop. On Friday afternoon, Chang borrowed his aunt's car, which was then hit by another car and badly damaged. "The three accidents and the expense of repairing the cars made Chang believe he was cursed. So on Saturday he jumped into the Tatu River," a policeman said. Chang, 31, was married with two children. His family members told police that Chang had been depressed recently because of his bad luck.
