Starting tomorrow, coffee chain stores nationwide are advised by the Consumer Protection Commission to label their coffee so their customers will be able to monitor their caffeine intake. Under the new labeling system, signs in red, yellow and green will be used to indicate caffeine strength. A red sign means the cup of coffee contains between 200mg and 300mg of caffeine, or even exceeds 300mg. Yellow refers to a caffeine content of between 100mg and 200mg, while green means that the caffeine content is under 100mg, according to the commission. As the signs will not be compulsory, however, companies that do not display them will not be penalized.
