Taipei City Government's Bureau of Cultural Affairs is organizing a trek to Pinglin Township (坪林) on Saturday to help the public gain an understanding of tea cultivation, a spokesman said yesterday. The tour will give Taipei residents a chance to learn about the history, manufacturing process and marketing of tea, the spokesman said, adding that participants would also have the chance to sip tea at a 100-year-old tea shop in Wanhua District -- the historic hub of Taiwan's tea trade. Chuang Yung-ming (莊永明), a tea expert, will lead the tour. Trek participants will visit an eco-friendly tea plantation in Pinglin as well as a tea museum.
