Taiwan Quick Take: MOFA official now in Israel

    CNA
    Sunday, Jul 30, 2006, Page 3

A senior diplomat arrived in Tel Aviv on Friday to provide assistance to Taiwanese expatriates and Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) staff during the conflict between Israel and Lebanon. Department of West Asian Affairs Deputy Director Ma Chao-yuan (馬超遠) said he was visiting Israel to express the government's concern for Taiwan's diplomats and expatriates in that country. There are about 20 Taiwanese expatriates in Israel. Ma said Minister of Foreign Affairs James Huang (黃志芳) had sent him to Israel to show concern for the expatriates and diplomatic mission staff on behalf of the government. He said he would also inspect Taiwan's representative office's operations and visit several Israeli government institutions. The government has not yet appointed a new mission chief since its former representative to Israel, Teng Shen-sheng (鄧申生), retired in February.
