Vice Minister of the Interior Yen Wan-chin (ÃC¸U¶i) was subpoenaed by the Taipei Prosecutors' Office yesterday on suspicion that he was involved in taking bribes in connection with the construction of a cable car system in Taipei City's Beitou district. Prosecutors yesterday led an investigation team to search 26 locations for evidence, including Yen's office and the offices of the Yangmingshan National Park Administration. A number of public officials are suspected of graft in connection with the project. Fourteen officials were summoned for questioning. Minister of the Interior Lee Yi-yang (§õ¶h¬v) said that he was surprised at the news, but knew nothing about the case.
