Taiwan Quick Take: God's Web site a success

    STAFF WRITER WITH CNA

A Web site designed to introduce the public to a temple in central Taiwan containing the town god (Chenghuang Yeh, 城隍爺) has been well-received, but what is perhaps most surprising is that its creator is a teenager. Liu Tze-wei (劉子偉), a 16-year-old who graduated from Chushan Junior High School in Nantou last year, set up the Web site shortly after the birthday fair of Lingteh Temple last year, when it celebrated the birthday of the town god, which falls on the 15th day of the sixth month on the lunar calendar. The public can learn about the god -- at 240cm in height the tallest town god in Taiwan -- and the history of the temple from the Web site, which has had 40,000 visits since its inception.
