Taiwan Quick Take: Illegal workers nabbed

A total of 40 illegal foreign workers have been detained in Pingtung County in the past few days, police said yesterday. Police launched an all-out search for illegal foreign laborers last weekend as part of a new nationwide crackdown. As of Wednesday, 40 illegal foreign workers, including those who had overstayed their visas or runaway from their jobs, had been found. Those who are found to have illegally employed foreign workers could face a fine of up to NT$750,000.
