In the primaries, six counties and cities were contested for by DPP candidates. After completing two polls six nominees were confirmed yesterday.
In Ilan County, former minister of justice Chen Ding-nan (陳定南) will seek the chance to head the county government that he led before. Hsinchu City Councilor Cheng Kwai-yuan (鄭貴元) and the Legislator-at-large Tsai Huang-liang (蔡煌瑯) will campaign for the top posts in Hsinchu City and Nantou County. In Yunlin County, former DPP legislator Su Chih-fen (蘇治芬) will campaign for the commissionership.

The Sports Administration yesterday demanded an apology from the national table tennis association for barring 17-year-old Yeh Yi-tian (葉伊恬) from competing in the upcoming World Table Tennis (WTT) United States Smash tournament in Las Vegas this July. Control Yuan Secretary-General Lee Chun-yi (李俊俋) tendered his resignation last night, admitting that he had misused a government vehicle, as reported by media. His resignation was immediately accepted by the Control Yuan.
