China has warned it does not welcome businessmen who support Taiwan independence.

"When the application wasn't approved, he didn't go and didn't ask any further questions," said the official, adding that no reason was given by the Hong Kong government for the refusal..
"This was a private trip and he organized it himself," the spokesman said.
The Hong Kong Immigration Department declined to comment on the case.
"The Immigration Department deals with all entry applications in accordance with the Immigration Ordinance and established policies," it said.
This was the first time Lin, who was one of Chen's campaign managers in the 2000 presidential election, has been denied a visa to Hong Kong.
Lin has visited China several times since becoming chairman of China Steel and was in Shanghai at the end of last year, the China Steel official said.
